WiFi broadband has become a staple of business and consumers alike, and is increasingly used by mobile operators to offload the mobile network and conserve spectrum – driving strong demand.

Hotels, many businesses, mobile networks and municipalities are all increasingly offering WiFi service now, on both a pay-for-use and complementary basis.  But in every case, it is expected that WiFi backhaul be cost effective and simple to deploy, and will offer future scalability.

But many of the places where WiFi is offered are well off the fiber footprint, and have been constrained by backhaul, relying on NxT1/E1 Ethernet services that can no longer scale cost effectively.

A more scalable, cost effective form of Ethernet backhaul that takes more reliable, high performance bandwidth to more places throughout the metro is needed – and Actelis meets that need.
