Actelis Networks’ Ethernet-Over-Copper Platforms Demonstrate Carrier
Ethernet Compliance And Interoperability
Actelis’ MetaLIGHT Solution is Certified for Metro Ethernet Forum’s
Carrier Ethernet Services by Iometrix and EANTC Independent Labs
BERLIN, Germany, September 14, 2005 - Actelis Networks® Inc., a worldwide leader delivering solutions that enable profitable, carrier-grade broadband services over local-loop copper, today announced its participation in the IIR's Metro Ethernet Forum-sponsored Carrier Ethernet World Congress in Berlin Germany, September 12 -16.
Actelis Networks in Stand 29 unveiled its newest enhancements to the MetaLIGHT platforms. A DS3/E3 uplink interface has been added to the already robust MetaLIGHT platform to allow it to seamlessly interface with legacy SDH/SONET networks. This solution allows the MetaLIGHT platform to easily connect to any legacy network without purchasing entire new systems. These enhancements add more flexibility and allow the MetaLIGHT platform to work alongside fiber in a carrier Ethernet network.
Actelis Networks was in the first group of products to comply with the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) global Carrier Ethernet service definitions and was presented with a certificate of compliance during a ceremony. This took place at the conference in Berlin with Nan Chen, President and Director of the MEF, while the certificates were presented by Bob Mandeville, President and Founder of Iometrix, an independent laboratory responsible for the conformance testing. The Certification Program is a key step for the MEF in its mission to facilitate the provision of consistent Carrier Ethernet services worldwide.
Actelis took part in the interoperability demonstration of Carrier Ethernet that followed compliance testing by European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC) of Germany. EANTC followed the guidelines of the MEF and T-Systems International to design their tests and by earning a place in this demo, the MetaLIGHT platform performed up to the standards set by the MEF and the EANTC. High performance broadband Internet access with a predictable and verifiable service level is the mainstay of a carrier's Ethernet services product offering.
Actelis Networks led a panel presentation "Defining profitable business models and identifying key feature requirements of business-class Ethernet services" on the 14th of September. The panel was hosted by Yossi Saad, VP of Marketing and BD at Actelis, and featured Bell Canada, Easynet, Metro Ethernet Forum and Heavy Reading as panelists. Additionally, Mr. Saad took part in the all day workshop presented by the Metro Ethernet Forum, presenting on Ethernet in the First Mile technology and standards.
The MetaLIGHT platforms are an innovative, standards-based, fiber-quality Ethernet-over-copper solution that deliver symmetric speeds of up to 70 Mbps over 18 kft/6km, bonding copper pairs to maximize bandwidth reach and release the real potential of carrier and business enterprise copper infrastructure. Powered by Actelis' patented MetaLOOP® technology, the Actelis' platforms provide far better rate, reach and reliability than other Ethernet-over-Copper solutions.
