Actelis Networks Accelerates Deployment of Business-class Services for Hawaii Dialogix Telecom
Actelis’ Dynamic Rate Boost Technology Spells the Death of T1 Lines.
FREMONT, Calif., September 28, 2010 - Hawaii Dialogix Telecom (HDT), a privately held and licensed facilities-based CLEC headquartered in Honolulu, has begun a widespread Ethernet migration program by converting its small-to-medium-sized business (SMB) customers from legacy T1 services to new business-class broadband services using Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) products from Actelis Networks®, the leading global supplier of Ethernet over copper solutions. HDT is delivering its new high-speed broadband services by simply leveraging the existing copper plant across Hawaii and pairing it with its all-IP network. Powered by Actelis’ patented and award-winning EFMplus™ technology, the company’s Dynamic Rate Boost (DRB) solution is dramatically enhancing the performance and “spectral friendliness” of services delivered over HDT’s network. Actelis’ DRB capabilities also provide the Hawaiian CLEC major reductions in CapEx and OpEx by optimizing the use of its access equipment and utilizing fewer copper pairs to deliver significantly greater bandwidth.
Hawaii Dialogix selected Actelis’ Ethernet access devices and aggregation switches to deliver the best performing and most reliable Ethernet services over bonded-copper links to its enterprise customers. Actelis’ standards-compliant EFM products, now with DRB, accelerate unparalleled broadband rates, reach and reliability, and at the same time, minimize any impact to neighboring services.
“Actelis’ Ethernet solutions, with its new DRB capabilities, allow HDT to offer highly differentiated services, reach more customers, and deliver services at price points that offer superior value,” said Jared Grugett, president at HDT. “Actelis’ advancements in standards-based Ethernet technologies enable HDT to quickly deploy the advanced broadband solutions our customers are expecting, and deliver them with business-class speed and reliability.”
HDT’s all-IP-based network provides business-class solutions on Hawaii’s six major islands, where a majority of Hawaii’s businesses are located. HDT’s portfolio of services includes point-to-point connectivity, data networking, high-speed Internet access, and voice services.
“While our competitors across the islands rely heavily on legacy T1 circuits or other sub-par EFM solutions, they remain ill-equipped to meet the explosive demand for bandwidth,” commented Grugett. “With Actelis’ advanced EFM solutions, HDT can deliver 10Mbps over half the copper pairs required by a single T1 line, which delivers less than 1Mbps per pair. This means that HDT customers are getting more than 10 times the bandwidth, and with more reliability than competing solutions.”
Without waiting to build out fiber or negotiate arrangements to lease fiber-optic lines, HDT’s ability to meet the demand for greater bandwidth by leveraging its existing infrastructure is critical to accelerating the adoption of IP-based applications. These value-added applications and services are an essential element of nearly every CLEC’s strategy to meet the growing communications and IT needs of their customers.
“HDT has once again demonstrated that Actelis’ innovative technologies can leverage existing infrastructure to meet the bandwidth demands for the next generation of IP-based applications,” said Joe Manuele, senior vice president of worldwide sales and customer support at Actelis Networks. “Actelis’ Ethernet solutions, along with innovations like our DRB capabilities, spell the death of T1 lines.”
Actelis’ EFM solutions deliver bandwidth 10 times greater than what is possible over a traditional T1 line and enable services at distances tens of thousands of feet from the central office, according to Manuele.
“HDT went through a rigorous evaluation process that included several of our competitors and selected Actelis because only we can deliver solutions that offer the greatest performance,” said Manuele. “Consequently, HDT is delivering services that are differentiated in the marketplace at extremely cost-effective price points.”
In addition to providing business-class broadband services for service providers, Actelis’ EFM solutions accelerate deployment and delivery of enhanced services, such as high-speed Internet connectivity, dedicated networks for Transparent LAN services, as well as DSLAM backhaul and mobile backhaul applications for wireless networks. Actelis’ expanded portfolio of intelligent Ethernet access devices, aggregation systems, and ANSI T1.417 compliant EFM repeaters accelerate delivery of unprecedented rate, reach and reliability, powering the networks of more than 200 service providers around the world.
