G4 Communications Accelerates Broadband Speeds for Its FastReach and XConnect Data Services Using Ethernet Solutions From Actelis Networks
FREMONT, Calif., September 29, 2010 - Actelis Networks®, the leading global supplier of Ethernet over copper solutions, today announced that G4 Communications (G4), the largest CLEC in New Hampshire, has selected Actelis to accelerate ubiquitous deployment of high-speed symmetrical data services, including FastReach® Managed Internet Access and Xconnect, on their VPLS/MPLS network. G4’s XConnect is a Remote Local Area Network (RLAN) solution that connects geographically separated locations, enabling them to share information, resources, and security across G4’s next-generation network. By leveraging the Dynamic Rate Boost (DRB) capabilities built into Actelis’ Ethernet solutions, G4 has significantly increased its ability to deliver greater symmetrical broadband rates and reliability, as well as reach more customers, while dramatically reducing expenses.
“Actelis’ ML600 product portfolio, with DRB built in, allows G4 to build a next-generation EFM network that delivers advanced business-class services that are backed with our reliable service level agreements,” said Gent Cav, president of G4 Communications. “We tested other competing solutions and quickly determined that only with Actelis’ industry-leading performance and coverage could G4 reliably accelerate deployment of new IP-based applications that met the needs of our valued customers.”
With the largest footprint across New Hampshire, G4 is the leading provider of high-speed voice and data services for government agencies and small-to-medium-sized businesses (SMBs). Actelis’ ML698 aggregation system is playing a critical role in accelerating G4’s migration of its enterprise customers from legacy T1 lines to new IP-based Ethernet services. The Actelis ML698 gives G4 a highly flexible EFM platform capable of scaling from low-density central offices and remote terminals serving rural communities to more densely populated metropolitan areas. As a result, G4 can deliver symmetrical speeds up to 15Mbps per copper pair, or 100Mbps per customer, compared to legacy T1 lines that deliver only 1.5Mbps. The ability to deploy higher bandwidth services with business-class reliability from a central office allows G4 to deliver greater value to the end customer and simultaneously reduce operational costs, compared to legacy T1s and competing EFM solutions.
“For decades, carriers have relied heavily on T1 lines to provide broadband data and voice services to enterprise customers,” said Joe Manuele, senior vice president of worldwide sales and customer support at Actelis Networks. “Actelis continues to prove there is a compelling business case for replacing outdated T1 circuits with Ethernet connections that leverage the same copper network and more efficiently deliver greater broadband rates, reach and reliability. In most cases, the improved performance is coupled with a 70% or more reduction in cost.”
Dynamic Rate Boost technology, built into Actelis’ access equipment and powered by the company’s EFMplus™ technology, liberates bandwidth from the same copper pairs used by legacy T1 lines, delivering more than 10x the bandwidth, compared to a legacy T1 circuit and 2x the bandwidth and reach of competing EFM solutions. This gives CLECs, like G4, the ability to offer a wider breadth of premium IP-based services, which accelerates their potential for revenue growth, customer acquisition, and market share.
