Cyberlink Deploys Actelis Networks’ ML2300 EFM Platform
Leading European ISP now has the capability to provide up to 100 megabits of symmetrical DSL services over existing copper infrastructure.
FREMONT, Calif., March 14, 2008 - Actelis Networks®, a leading global supplier of Carrier Ethernet over Copper™ solutions, today announced that Cyberlink has deployed Actelis’ ML2300, the company’s flagship Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) aggregation platform that enables telecom service providers and private enterprise to deliver symmetrical Ethernet services up to 100Mbps per customer over multiple voice-grade copper pairs. With Actelis’ ML2300 EFM platform, Cyberlink, a leading Swiss-based Internet Service Provider (ISP), is now offering new Ethernet/IP-based voice, video and hosted data services to business customers in metropolitan areas throughout Switzerland.
“The Actelis solution gives us the ability to deliver the higher connectivity and business-class broadband services our customers are requiring to conduct their business more efficiently and economically,” said Beat Tinner, founder and president of network services at Cyberlink. “Actelis provided us with a system that installed quickly, seamlessly integrating into our network and enabling us to reach more customers than we thought possible.”
Built on the company’s award-winning EFMplus™ technology, Actelis’ ML2300 serves as a central office aggregation platform, achieving unprecedented rate, reach and reliability, or what Actelis calls “The Three R’s of EFM,” on any grade of available copper. It can connect via high-speed links to multiple Actelis ML600 Ethernet Access Devices (EADs) in the field, and a number of ML2300 shelves can be stacked in a star or ring topology to provide flexible network designs and higher port density per uplink.
As a future-proof platform designed for both current and emerging applications, the ML2300 has the infrastructure to deliver next-generation services, and greatly expands Cyberlink’s existing Metro network with new revenue-generating services that can leverage the ISP’s existing infrastructure.
“Actelis’ EFMplus technology helps us to troubleshoot older installations quickly, reducing our maintenance costs drastically,” commented Ramon Amat, CEO of Cyberlink. “This system [ML2300] provides us with a pragmatic approach to upgrading our legacy installations to Ethernet, while future-proofing our network to deliver high-bandwidth applications.”
“We believe the ML2300 is a significant contribution to this market, and one that will be adopted by additional carriers and ISPs throughout Europe,” said Yaron Altit, vice president of European sales at Actelis. “We worked closely with Cyberlink and the Swiss regulatory bodies to open up regulations to allow 5.7Mbps per copper pair, which allowed Cyberlink to efficiently offer higher-rate services.”
SUA Telent, the official channel partner for Actelis Networks in Switzerland, is supporting Cyberlink customers in the German-speaking areas. The company has a strong background in providing solutions and supporting customers in the areas of wireline, wireless and carrier-related technology, hardware and software services.
Actelis’ carrier Ethernet over copper solutions have now been deployed by more than 130 service providers and private enterprises worldwide, covering more than 35 countries.
