Moapa Valley Telephone Company and Midvale Telephone Exchange taking broadband service where it’s never gone before.
FREMONT, Calif., April 11, 2012 - Actelis®, The Broadband Acceleration Company™, today announced that it has recently signed Moapa Valley Telephone Company and Midvale Telephone Exchange, Inc. (Midvale) to its ever-expanding customer portfolio, cementing its positioning as “The” Broadband Acceleration Company. With the award-winning Actelis BBA (broadband accelerator), incumbent carriers can boost broadband rates by as much as 100% on typical loops and more than 400% on long loops, increasing DSL penetration rates in underserved and unserved communities and enabling the necessary bandwidth to deliver triple-play services.
Moapa Valley recently implemented Actelis’ BBA, enabling it to more than double the amount of bandwidth available to some customers while simultaneously delivering broadband service where none was available before. Incorporated in 1909, Moapa Valley has been committed to delivering services that keep up with customer demand. As a rural carrier serving a number of remote locations across Nevada, deploying fiber everywhere was not economically viable and it was physically impossible to address immediate customer demand.
“Broadband acceleration technology made it possible for us to deliver a choice of service options that meet our customers’ needs in a highly cost-effective manner,” said Brad Lyon, vice president of Moapa Valley. “Overnight we were able to bundle services and boost broadband bandwidth, all of which add up to even greater customer value.”
Offering rural telephone service in two states, Midvale, based in Idaho and in operation since 1909, is a family-owned and operated RLEC (rural local exchange carrier). Having earned a reputation of taking telephone services where no services previously existed, Midvale is now taking that same approach to broadband, extending new broadband service where none previously existed. Recognizing broadband as being the new lifeline for residential and business customers, Midvale is also using a similar approach on broadband speeds, accelerating bandwidth where it could not be accelerated before.
“We have been very pleased with the Actelis BBA,” said Dennis Farrington, Arizona operations manager at Midvale. “The BBA has made a huge difference in our business, enabling us to reach our longer-loop customers, and the product has been very reliable. Midvale has used other DSL extender devices, but the Actelis BBA is by far the best.”
“The proliferation of technologies that has allowed us to remain connected at all times by utilizing broadband connections have been a powerful catalyst for economic development,” commented Vivek Ragavan, president and CEO of Actelis. “The relevance that broadband can play in our daily lives should not be limited to geography or socio-economic status. Whether it is access to important health care and other critical services or communicating with friends and family through the Internet’s social aspects, Actelis understands what end users want from their broadband experience. We also know how to accelerate wide-scale broadband adoption for carriers and, collectively, this is why we developed the BBA.”
The Actelis BBA meets the bandwidth goal set last year by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of 4Mbps downstream and 1Mbps upstream. Featuring simple plug-and-play installation, an environmentally hardened standards-based BBA takes minutes to install by a cable splicer, delivering triple-play broadband services to new customers that will generate new revenue streams for carriers and help them to increase customer loyalty.
Actelis (Booth #813) will be showcasing its award-winning BBA at the COMPTEL PLUS Spring 2012 Convention & Expo. The 3-day event kicks off April 15 at the Marriott Marquis in San Francisco, Calif.
