Actelis Networks Honored with 2006 World Communications Best Technology Foresight
Award

Recognized for Leadership in Carrier Ethernet over Copper Technology; Effectively Extending Premium Ethernet Coverage to Business and Consumer Markets

LONDON, ENGLAND – November 10, 2006 - Actelis Networks®, the leading provider of Carrier Ethernet over Copper™ networking equipment, today announced the company was honored with the Best Technology Foresight award at the 2006 World Communications Awards. This prestigious award acknowledged Actelis Network's leadership position in the development of innovative communications technologies, specifically for their portfolio of Carrier Ethernet solutions. Powered by the patented EFMplus™ technology, Actelis solutions dramatically extend the reach of Carrier Ethernet services using existing copper networks to deliver carrier-class, fiber-like resiliency and performance.

The WCA judges commented, "Actelis Networks' entry was the standout for the judges this year. And this is from a list of more than 60 entries of ‘fantastic diversity… from the world of enabling technologies… to content and communications convergence.' Ethernet over copper has won several networks contracts already, and is an ‘excellent example of how to provide alternative access for high speed networking where DSL might not be fast enough or secure enough.'"

The World Communication Award for Best Technology Foresight was developed to honor individuals or companies who have developed a breakthrough technology with the potential for far-reaching impact on both business and consumer markets, specifically through taking an innovative approach on an existing aspect of the communications network.

"Actelis is extremely honored to receive the coveted World Communications Award," stated George Lasry, General Manager of International Markets for Actelis Networks. "This award validates the eight years of effort that we have spent pioneering and fostering this breakthrough technology. More so, it recognizes our vision to bring superior technological abilities to business and consumer broadband markets through enabling carriers and service providers to achieve full coverage of their customer base by using existing voice-grade copper networks."

Actelis Networks' innovative Carrier Ethernet over Copper technology is based on breakthrough physical layer transmission technology that delivers mission critical high-speed Ethernet traffic through the existing voice-grade copper network, also called Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM). The company has combined its state-of-the-art EFM capabilities with comprehensive Carrier Ethernet service delivery features. These solutions have been certified to comply with demanding Metro Ethernet Forum service specifications, creating a complete product portfolio that addresses the exploding demand for Ethernet services to support next generation business and residential applications.

The Best Technology Foresight win comes on the heels of two major Actelis Networks' deployments in Europe. COLT, a leading European provider of business communications, introduced Actelis EFMplus technology in France and Belgium as the first phase in a program to boost local access speeds for businesses across Europe. Likewise, Easynet, a leading Pan-European broadband service provider, launched its innovative EtherStream™ service using Actelis' solutions - UK's first Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) service over copper. This development follows the success of the service in the Netherlands.

The company was also recently listed as a finalist for the Financial Times Disruptive Communications Technology Award, to be presented on 21 November in London.
