Actelis Networks Ranked #1 by Infonetics Research for Third Consecutive Year

Actelis reinforces market leadership with new customer wins, driven by industry-leading EFM over copper solutions.

DALLAS, May 18, 2011 - Actelis Networks®, the leading global supplier of Ethernet over copper solutions that is accelerating everything for service providers, today announced at TIA 2011: Inside the Network (Booth 916) that the company has been recognized by Infonetics Research as the #1 global supplier of Ethernet over bonded-copper Ethernet Access Devices (EADs). Deployed by telecom service providers, enterprises and municipalities worldwide, Actelis’ Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) EADs enable delivery of high-speed broadband over existing copper infrastructure. The compact, cost-effective EADs, powered by Actelis’ patented EFMplus™ technology with DRB, deliver in excess of 100Mbps of symmetrical Ethernet bandwidth with fiber-like quality. This marks the third consecutive year Actelis has been recognized by Infonetics Research as the number one global market leader for Ethernet over bonded-copper products.

In the recently released report, “Carrier Ethernet Equipment: Biannual Worldwide and Regional Market Share, Size, and Forecasts,” author Michael Howard, co-founder and principal analyst at Infonetics Research, stated that Actelis led with a market share of 40%, with a clear separation from the other players. Howard reported that EAD worldwide revenue grew 19% in 2010, and will reach $1.5 billion in 2015.

“The EAD market grew nicely in 2010, as a direct result of replacing outdated T1 and E1 lines used for business services, backhaul from buildings and DSLAMs, along with a growing market for mobile backhaul applications,” said Howard. “Copper innovation has not ended, and EFM products, like Actelis’ family of EADs with new DRB technology introduced in 2010, are helping to drive this growth and becoming critical components in metro access and aggregation networks.”

Actelis’ EADs provide cost-effective solutions for several applications, including business-class services, T1 and E1 line replacement, DSLAM and mobile backhaul. Actelis’ standards-compliant family of EADs enables rapid service delivery over a converged Ethernet facility, allowing service providers to fully utilize their copper-based network infrastructure.

“Recognition by Infonetics Research as the world’s number one provider of EFM over bonded-copper products is a testament to Actelis’ ongoing commitment to providing innovative solutions that meet the needs of a growing and highly diverse global marketplace,” said Eric Vallone, vice president of marketing at Actelis.

With Actelis’ DRB technology, an EAD delivers more than twice the bandwidth and coverage of any competing EFM over copper solution available in the market today. The combination of higher symmetrical rates—up to 15Mbps per copper pair—enhanced reliability, coupled with substantial reductions of capital and operational expenditures achieved through DRB technology, enables Actelis’ customers to deliver high-speed broadband services that are unparalleled in rate, reach and reliability.
