Actelis Ranked #1 by Infonetics Research for Fourth Consecutive Year

Actelis continues market leadership by accelerating wide-scale broadband adoption for ILECs, IOCs, CLECs and their business customers.

FREMONT, Calif., August 29, 2012—Actelis®, The Broadband Acceleration Company™, has been recognized by Infonetics Research as the #1 global supplier of Ethernet over bonded-copper Ethernet Access Devices (EADs). This marks the fourth consecutive year Actelis has been recognized by Infonetics as the #1 global market leader for Ethernet over bonded-copper products. In his latest EADs market size, market share and forecast report, Infonetics’ co-founder and principal analyst Michael Howard stated that Actelis continues to lead the market in this segment, maintaining a clear separation from the other manufacturers. The report also indicated that the worldwide EAD market grew 17% in 2011, and is forecast to grow 81% between 2012 and 2016.

“Actelis continues to lead the fast-growing EFM (Ethernet in the First Mile) bonded-copper EAD segment,” said Howard. “Copper has an important role for Ethernet services because, while some operators are moving to fiber as they upgrade building sites and mobile backhaul from TDM to Ethernet, copper-based EFM solutions fit in many business places where the expense of fiber is not justified.”

Actelis’ compact, cost-effective line of EADs enables operators to quickly roll out new services, build new revenues, increase customer satisfaction and fight off the competition, while helping them reduce CapEx, support an efficient OAM model and minimize TCO to achieve their ROI objectives. Actelis’ EADs deliver high-speed Ethernet services over existing copper networks, significantly extending the rate, reach and reliability of business-class services, and are playing a key role in helping carriers backhaul services from the access network back into the core network. To further address DSLAM and mobile backhaul challenges, Actelis has launched its new ML700 EAD. These devices are the first and only line of EADs that delivers up to 500 Mbps of bandwidth with extended reach and reliability.

“Broadband service utilization in the large enterprise and residential markets continues on trajectories of solid growth, but the explosion of broadband service adoption in the mobile network and the rapid growth in demand for a variety of traditional and cloud-based broadband services in the medium and small enterprise are newer and very significant trends,” commented Vivek Ragavan, president and CEO of Actelis. “More bandwidth is needed and needed quickly, but the real challenge is that this bandwidth must be brought to many new places more quickly and cost effectively than ever before. Actelis’ broadband solutions turn the installed base of copper plant into a strategic asset, accelerating time to market for ILECs, IOCs and CLECs wanting to offer a highly competitive combination of bandwidth and performance to a growing number of bandwidth constrained customers.”
