Railroad Enhances Communications Network and Safety With Actelis Networks

Gets More Reliable Bandwidth To More Places Over High Performance Ethernet Over Copper,
Enabling Positive Train Control, Diverse Access, plus WiFi and Radio Communications With Crews.

A regional railroad transports close to half a million passengers and millions of tons of freight each year,
providing a vital link between cities and towns. All while braving extremely challenging environmental conditions and terrain spanning some very remote sections of country.
This railroad operator needs to make sure that they operate the railroad safely and efficiently, and to do this they need to maintain a state of the art communications network at all times.

The City of Napa – Boosting Bandwidth with Carrier Ethernet over Copper Solution

The City of Napa, located in northern California’s world famous wine region, like many municipalities requires secure, high availability bandwidth for voice and data applications including emergency response, law enforcement, traffic management, and other public services.  Actelis solutions are proving to be ideal for such networks - “We saw the Actelis solution as ideal to increase speed, bandwidth and reach, so we moved quickly to deploy EADs from Actelis,” says Jay Palompo, systems administrator for the City of Napa. The City of Sacramento – Actelis Keeps Traffic Moving Safely in California’s State Capital

Sacramento, like many cities in the U.S. and around the world is installing a new generation of IP-based traffic cameras and controllers to improve road safety, reduce congestion and help drivers avoid traffic jams.  Actelis is enabling this migration and has become a trusted choice for cities like Sacramento - “We looked at a few vendors, and Actelis was the leader in the Carrier Ethernet over copper space,” says Ryan Billeci, Telecommunications Engineer for the City of Sacramento, “The choice was also made because of the proven robustness of the Actelis solution, because the hardened switch is able to operate in harsh environments" and "bond up to eight copper pairs together, creating high bit rate pipes at 45 Mbps in capacity.” (more…)

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) – Actelis Lights the Way with Copper

Utilities are a perfect fit for Actelis' Ethernet over bonded copper solutions, since they tend to have their own large and diverse copper infrastructures often serving remote locations with a requirement to distribute broadband applications.  PG&E needed to deploy a solution quickly to provide high-speed, reliable communications for critical business and control processes and then looked to copper after dismissing fiber, according to Louis Hatton, senior network specialist at PG&E -  "Actelis’ products have continued to perform as we expected and satisfaction is high here at PG&E."
